Campers, we’ve got a challenge for you! Perfect for those of you cooped up in local lockdowns, or cooped up with kids who have energy to burn off!
Starry Skies HQ shares a building with Temwa – a truly incredible charity who work to help communities in remote, Northern Malawi. Coronavirus has hugely impacted their ability to fundraise, and with Malawi’s rainy season approaching, they urgently need to raise vital funds to help farmers produce enough food for their communities.
WANT TO HELP? ALL YOU NEED IS A FLIGHT OF STAIRS AND A STEELY SENSE OF DETERMINATION.
How does it work?
Make a real difference, whilst getting your daily exercise!
Kilimanjaro is 5,895 metres tall, your average staircase is 2.5 metres.
For a household of 4 to climb the combined height of Kilimanjaro, each person needs to climb the stairs 52 times a day, every day for 4 weeks.
Or you can make the challenge a bit easier and join a team of households across the UK to complete the challenge in one day! Once you’re signed up, you’ll receive one to one support on how to complete your challenge and how to fundraise.
HOW MUCH CAN YOU RAISE?
A team of 20 households raising £150 each can support 5,250 people in Malawi that are vulnerable to food shortages this year. That’s a pretty huge achievement!
SIGN UP HERE TO RESERVE YOUR PLACE – TEMWA WILL THEN BE IN TOUCH TO TALK YOU THROUGH THE NEXT STEPS AND GET YOU STARTED!
NOTE: We do appreciate that not every body has stairs in their home! If you’re a flat, bungalow or van dweller and want to get involved, we recommend scoping our your local parks or local area for a decent public stairway you can borrow! We do also appreciate that this challenge is not accessible to all, particularly those with mobility issues. If this describes you but you are still keen to get involved in some way, please reach out to Temwa who will be able to discuss alternatives.
